I did NOT expect this in the middle of rural Scotland. It is truly like something from another part of the world. Well tended and full of lovely monks, the monastery is something really unique to see which a great sense of peace and tranquility everywhere. The statues and enormous structures are so surreal in this area that it becomes a totally thought provoking experience. I would absolutely recommended a visit for a walk and quiet contemplation.

Things you expect to find just over the Scottish border. Set out in the middle of nowhere, this monastery is a lovely, tranquil place that is worth the effort to visit. Set in its own gardens, so take your time and enjoy. It is all free, that includes the parking too. There is a shop and cafe but the cafe looked closed when I was there, even though it was opening time.

Went for the first time for the open day and Tea party. Was wonderfully calm, yet a strong spiritual presence. Went to a service to listen to the teachings. Really interesting. Will definetly go back. Grounds looked fantastic but will go back for a better look when it is better weather as it was pouring with rain.

We travelled from Ettrick Valley to Lockerbie on our way home to see this beautiful place. |Unfair comments i feel in reviews. |I loved it, we had our dog with us so my husband sat in the car as i have a love of churches and temples and desperately wanted to visit the gardens. |I wasnt disppointed except in the fact i couldn't stay longer. |I felt so tranquil and at peace in such a beautiful place. |Worth the visit x

We didn't stay the night at the Buddhist monestary, we came for a trip.
My partner & I thought this was the highlight of our vacation.
The monks and helpers were friendly, and answered any questions we asked.
The Temple was, Wow.
The gardens were peaceful, reflective, beautiful flowers, scenery & wildlife.
Free to go in.
Has a massive car park and a disabled car park.
Has a tea room shop & toilets.
If we are in the area again, we will go back, will stay.

We stopped by this temple which is in the middle of the Scottish countryside. Tranquil and peaceful place! However the scottish receptionist lady was very grumpy and unfriendly, definitely does not make justice to this amazing place.
