I am Dr Marx’s patient for about 5 years. He is very knowledgeable and experienced dermatologist. Because of his experience he is capable to quickly pinpoint a problem and come up with a solution. I would strongly recommend Dr Marx

Rude and no concern to patient. Worst experience with a doctor who does not give you after treatment instructions. I had to send a message to ask what to do to take care of the wound. Unbelievable!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Worst experience with a doctor in my life. I had sent a MyChart message with a question re: follow-up medication and adverse reactions it was giving me. Almost 3 weeks went by with no response from the doctor, despite numerous Mychart follow-up messages and 2 phone messages with the office. Finally I had to escalate with patient relations dept. I finally received a call back and the doctor basically did nothing. No explanation for ignoring me for 3 weeks and not even an apology. When I asked it he was going to at least apologize, he said quote "None would be coming". STAY AWAY FROM THIS SO-CALLED DOCTOR AT ALL COSTS!!!!

I've seen Dr. Marks only about two times in the past four years. Luckily from the support of my past dermatologists, my PCP, and my own research; I am able to remedy the skin issue that had arose at those times . However I will admit some changes I've observed from my initial visit to my last visit with him. First, Dr. Marks is fully aware of his intelligence and his medical expertise that my first impression of him was arrogant. When I first met him I disliked the fact I waited close to an hour and only spoke with him for about 5-7 minutes. At that time, he didn't seem genuine and hands on with the issue I wanted to discuss, but I did utilize him to prescribe a topical ointment (I've been prescribed the ointment in the past so I knew I just needed a new order). I should also mention: at the time of the appointment, he had his laptop typing notes. He rarely made eye contact and seemed somewhat disconnected. On the other hand, the last visit I had with him was different. I appreciated the fact that if you arrived early he would take you in early. Also, this time he was very attentive and actually consuming what I had addressed. He made his remarks and suggestions. This time he even mentioned that he's readily available on MyChart to communicate. (He spent about 10-15 minutes to discuss a minor issue) There has been evident change over the years. And for that reason, I give him a 3/5 star. I am set to accompany my family member in their appointment with him. I shall update the experience until then.

***Update: Dr. Marks is intellectual, there's no doubt about that. He has a weird vibe, he likes fast-paced conversations, and notably puts little effort to personally communicate with his patients. My rating for him still remains at 3/5 star. He's a great doctor that can offer you support, but if you're looking for a dermatologist willing to communicate with you and take time....then I would consider seeing one of his colleagues instead.

I waited 5 months to get in to see this Benjamin Marks, and my appointment with him was HORRIBLE! He gave me 10 minutes to do a yearly check up and full body check. He went over NOTHING with me.I have had skin cancer in the past and to give me that kind of check up was unacceptable. I told him I was having a weird sensation on top of my hand, and as he was walking out of the exam room, his response "you need to see a neurologist" with NO explanation as to why and NO referral. He starts me on a chemo cream and gives me NO instruction on how to use it. I was told by patient relations to check the notes he wrote in my chart, and MOST of what he wrote was false. Please get other dermatology referrals.

Dr. Marks is an absolute legend! He doesn’t waste time on irrelevant small talk and makes my visits super quick and convenient. I’ve seen some reviewers call him arrogant, but I personally haven’t seen that from him—he’s just straightforward, which I appreciate, since it’s not like beating around the bush is going to make my skin any better.
Also, he’s a literal genius. I swear, he must have a photographic memory or something, because his ability to remember tiny details is insane. The name on my medical chart isn’t my preferred name but Dr. Marks remembered my preferred name from when I mentioned it in passing, and even recognized my mum from when she came with my older sibling years before my first visit!
As for the actual treatment, he prescribed me a topical acne treatment (which is typically outrageously expensive), but told me to call him if the co-pay is over $10. I’m happy to report that I’ve never paid over $10 for what typically costs hundreds, and my previously severe acne has been reduced to a few occasional breakouts.

Should have read the reviews first --

I was so desperate to see a dermatologist so I made an appointment with the only doctor available within 3 weeks. Drove 25 miles hoping to get some answers and much needed relief from the flare ups. The wait in the reception area was short but the visit with the doctor was even shorter. He barely looked at me, hardly asked any questions and didn't consult me at all. I was supposed to get a full body scan. I don't think he even did that because I don't recall him looking at anything except the rashes on my arms and legs. I definitely do not recommend him and needless to say I will not be returning. Good thing part of the bill was covered by insurance because his fees were just as much as a high-priced attorney.

Horrible experience and bedside manner with wound that isn't healing with no support from him! Hasn't answered emails for two days with pictures of red infected wound. When I first came in he was short - running in and out of the office as if I didn't exist. When I asked him a question he was walking out the door and said - you keep asking the same question. Which I was not. When I got my notes from the visit he falsely stated he reviewed ABCDE of Melanoma - and didn't ask me about tanning bed use. He looked me over in seconds and said this tiny little mole needed to be removed for pathology. They didn't give in depth description about how to care of the wound. Slapped bandages on me.
The nurse said I couldn't shower for 24 hours - he said I could. Didn't say if I should or shouldnt remove the bandage - this was my FIRST time ever getting a skin biopsy I had no idea what was happening. I had all these huge bandage on me that ripped my skin off when I removed it. I had a rash. He said one week until results - it was well past 10 days I had to keep calling for results. Meanwhile my biopsy hasn't healed itches and hurts - I have now emailed him 3 times!! 48 hours ago - and sent pics of a red and yellow wound site - NO RESPONSE. I can see my messages were read but he didn't respond. Not SURPRISING because he barely had time when I was in the office. He called to tell me it was nothing finally - and I said yes it didn't look like much. He said well it met the conditions to remove it. I felt like I was just a procedure code. I now have a painful wound and shared with others who have alot of biopsies in the past and they said it is MUCH deeper than theirs and it doesn't look like a shave. Others said barbaric - I would have to agree. I wish I had read reviews before going. I trusted my docs referral but I have since told him of my experience so others can be warned. Arrogant and can't be bothered by his patients after he has cut them up and given results - that is my experience. He doesn't care if it heals. I had to call my primary. Thank God he's an amazing doctor and person. Dr Marks? Not so much!
